McDonald School Brick Fundraiser

     The McDonald Black Fox Ruritan Club is currently collecting names of those interested in purchasing a brick from the school once it is demolished. We encourage any former students, teachers, staff, parents and others interested in being a part of this great fundraiser to get your name added to the list. Response has been good thus far. Our goal is to sell at least 1,000 bricks.

As of 7/4/2011 there has not been a date set for demolition although in approximately January 2012 the school will be permanently boarded up. Once it is demolished the ruritan club will receive a specific amount of bricks they can sell as a keepsake with proceeds going to the McDonald Community Center which will be the former school's gymnasium.

There have been a few ideas of what should be in place of where the school currently sits. A walkway, covered picnic area and park have been mentioned as well as a playground. Anyone interested in being a part of this transition can come to the monthly meetings, held the third Tuesday of each month. It is encouraged that everyone whether those who were alumni or staff at the school or currently reside in the McDonald community get involved with this project.

We are also looking for businesses willing to donate materials or monetary donations to this great project!
